Lakewood Skate Competition

Among fierce competition some of the youngest skaters of 39+ entered their first tournament. They had many personal accomplishments, unfortunately they were unable to advance to the next round.

We were so excited to take along our kids from the park. It was a delight for them, and a treat. They had an opportunity to watch other fellow skaters and learn new tricks. It was a blessing for them!

Meet: Manny

Meet Manny, an 11 year old boy with a great smile and a giving heart. He has a loving spirit, but with some rough edges! He always takes care of his fellow skaters, buying them snacks, or drinks. Manny is always first in helping out at the skate park.

In John chapter 9 we read about one of the blind men healed by Christ. We also read how he stands boldly for Christ. He gives witness to his family and friends and when facing the Pharisees he stands boldly as well. Even after his parents don't stand boldly with him he still does. Now why is that??? Simple Christ had changed his life and had made it possible for him to live a transformed life but had not done that for his parents only confirming to us that it is up to the individual to accept the gift of salvation. But at what cost did this gift come at? Lets take a look at first century Israel. In first century Israel for a person to claim Christ meant that they would be thrown out of the Synagogue. You may ask whats the big deal so you get kicked out of the synagogue...This meant you couldn't worship God, offer sacrifices, and if you were a business owner it meant that those who belonged which was the majority would NOT shop with you. Well as you may imagine he stood boldly for Christ and the formerly blind man was cast out. In life we will face situations where we will be asked to take a stand. What will you do? What are you willing to risk? Just recently Miss California Carrie Prejean faced that decision. She worked hard to reach the point she was at. She was one of the finalist for Miss USA when she was asked what was her opinion on same sex marriage. Most competitors would have probably taken a middle of the road response and stayed in the running. But she decided she was going to do what was right. Not in the eyes of the world but in the eyes of God. Well needless to say it cost her the title, but she did what was right in the sight of the Lord. In the end it cost her the crown of Miss USA but the crown she gained is and will always be superior. So you tell me are you willing to risk your dreams? Can you afford not to?

For the past 2 days I noticed BonBon sweeping up the park without anyone telling him to do so. For almost an hour he swept, dusted, picked up trash from corner to corner! I didn't say anything, didn't want to rob his crown of glory! These little things are confirmation that the Lord is working in those little hearts!

First of all I want to thank to all who have already donated funds for our ministry. Thank you for your blessings and support. One of our first skaters we would like to sponsor is BonBon and Anthony. They came to our park the first week we opened and ever since they have been coming to the park. It is amazing to see these kids change habits right before your eyes. I admit when they came to the park their mouths were dirtier than a sock! With love and grace and the word their hearts have been softening up and changing. I am amazed on how the Lord is working in these little hearts, in less than two months! We now see the driven desire of God for this park to be built.

One of our goals for this ministry is to equip the kids in our communities with the word and their skateboards. Most of the kids that come to our park come from low income families. But with a willing heart and a smile, they skate their hearts out. The purpose for the sponsorship is to provided a skater with a brand new skateboard and a bible. Some of these kids come with hand-me-down skatboards.
